Today I am linking up with Amanda for Thinking Out Loud. Four Random thoughts of the day:
1. Last night I watched Fed Up, a documentary about the growing obesity epidemic in America. I enjoy learning different statistics and hearing different sides of debates. The documentary explained that the food and beverage industry plays a huge role (they argue the entire role) in obesity among US children. The documentary highlighted the fact that just because you exercise and move, does not mean that you will lose weight and won’t become obese. They also explained that one calorie in doesn’t equal one calorie out–calories are not created equal.
The most interesting thing that I took from the documentary is what I have been thinking for a while now–the media constantly says that something is “healthy” and then flip flops and will come up with research that proves that the same product is “unhealthy.” Take fat free foods for example–some people say they are better than full fat food while other people argue that the full fat food is better as they tend to be less processed. Which is right?! While I know what is good to eat (i.e. fruits, vegetables, lean meats, etc.), I even get confused about what is really “healthy” and what I should eat v. not eat.
As in most documentaries, I agree with some parts and disagree with others. Overall, the movie was very thought provoking and makes you wonder how life will be in 2050 and if soda ads today are really like cigarette ads 20 years ago?!
2. Why is it cheaper to book a flight with multiple stops than a direct flight?! I have never understood how it is less expensive for me to fly from Greenville to Charlotte (or Atlanta) to whatever destination than to fly from Charlotte/Atlanta to my destination on the same airline. I won’t complain if that means being more convenient–just very confusing!
3. Is it just me or when you graduate college, do you become more of a fan than when you were in school? Looking around my house, we have a ton of Clemson memorabilia. It is just like anything Clemson gravitates towards me and says this will totally fit somewhere in your house! Not only do we buy Clemson things, but our pillows are orange, candles on the mantel are orange and even napkins on the dining room table are orange. I think I may have a problem…
4. Random Scout puppy pictures on my computer:
Sorry there are just too many adorable puppy pictures to just pick a couple. Have a great day–one more day until the weekend!
I’ve been really into watching Netflix documentaries on health and fitness. I think Popsugar came out with a list of the top 10 to watch and Fed Up was on there. I need to check it out ASAP!

It is definitely worth watching–I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. A lot better than the documentaries on juicing and fad diets in my opinion! Got to love some Netflix 🙂

Your puppy is seriously precious ❤ And I've all but given up on what the media says is healthy and not. I've got the full-blown "clean eating" route and felt pretty darn horrible as a result. I think overthinking it and completely restricting yourself doesn't do anyone any good. It's all about keeping things balanced and not overthinking it too much. There are more important things out there than food.

The thing that blew me away about Fed Up was the original purpose of “Let’s Move” and its evolution as the food industry sunk its paws into it. Those brownies look so gooey I want to eat all of them now. There are never too many adorable puppy pics!
